Sunday marked the 100th birthday of the iconic First United Methodist church in downtown Murphy, with special services and a dinner for the congregation. The handsome brick building, with its white columns and classic stained-glass windows, is frequently photographed by tourists. Members, former members, former pastors and the area’s Methodist bishop participated in the local festivities.
