Martins Creek – Dr. Keevin Woody and the Cherokee County Board of Education has moved Andrews High School principal Lance Bristol to become principal of Martins Creek Elementary School.
Bristol’s employment in Cherokee County Schools reflects his dedication to education and leadership, according to a release. Starting as a teacher and coach at Murphy High School in 2007, he steadily progressed through various roles in local classrooms.
Bristol transitioned to Andrews High as assistant principal in 2014, and later taking on the additional role of athletic director in 2015, highlight his willingness to take on new challenges. His leadership qualities were further recognized when he was chosen to serve as the principal of Andrews Middle School in 2018, followed by his return to Andrews High as principal in January 2021.
Bristol’s academic background includes receiving an undergraduate degree from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee and a master’s degree in education administration from Grand Canyon University.
His family’s involvement in education, spanning multiple generations, underscores his personal connection to the field of education. For decades, Bristol’s grandmother served as an English and Latin teacher at Andrews High.
Meanwhile, his mother and father, Dave and Betty, were a teaching team at Murphy High in the 1950s and ’60s; and his sister, Cissy Dyer, taught for more than 30 years in Cherokee County. Bristol is married to Amber Bristol, a teacher at Murphy Middle School.
