Local residents came out in the early morning of Nov. 29 for Black Friday savings. Lowe’s in Murphy gave the first 25 people in the home improvement store, which opened at 6 a.m., a bucket filled with tools like a work battery, light and utility knives worth about $150. James Tonkin of Ducktown, Tenn., braved the cold and dark morning for his chance to get a bucket. “I came out just for the opportunity and the experience,” Tonkin said. He left happy with the Kobalt battery he wanted, which he said was worth getting up for at 4:45 a.m.
