Andrews – As part of the ongoing Homesteading 101 series, Andrews Public Library assistant Karen Taylor will offer a free class in gardening to celebrate Earth Day from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday in the library’s meeting room.
Taylor, an herbalist and longtime gardener in western North Carolina whose family owned and operated Taylor’s Greenhouse near Robbinsville for decades, shares her tips and tricks including how to make tinctures, such as insect repellents from dried herbs, how to propagate plants from both seeds and cuttings, as well as plant identification and various uses for native species in our area.
Taylor will also have plant starts for purchase, which benefits Friends of the Andrews Public Library. The classes are free of charge and open to the public.
