2 face drug charges after car, foot chase

Peachtree – Two people were arrested on drug-related charges following a vehicle chase followed by a foot chase through thick woods on Feb. 14.

Cherokee County sheriff’s detectives attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Joshua Ryan Lowe, 36, of Hayesville, who failed to appear in court on methamphetamine trafficking warrants. The arrest attempt resulted in a vehicle chase followed by a foot pursuit through a heavily wooded area in the Peachtree community.

Lowe was eventually captured and arrested along with Robin Leah Barton, 64, of Murphy, who drove the vehicle. A follow-up investigation led detectives to the house from which Lowe and Barton fled, where they allegedly found 308 grams of methamphetamine and numerous other drug-related items.

Lowe was confined in the Cherokee County Detention Center in Murphy in lieu of $400,000 bail. He was charged with failure to appear on trafficking in methamphetamine and mid-level trafficking in methamphetamine.

Barton was confined in the detention center in lieu of $100,000 bail. She was charged with mid-level trafficking in methamphetamine.
