David Adam Hull, 56, faces numerous counts with charges that include statutory sex offense with a child less than 15, indecent liberties with a child and felony child abuse-sexual act, according to the Cherokee County Detention Center. Hull is being held in lieu of $350,000 secured bond. He has not yet been served, and his court records remain sealed, according to officials with the Cherokee County Clerk of Court’s office.
Hull was arrested on June 16 by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation. His wife, Cynthia Hull, expressed dismay in a social media post.
“NO I did not ever think 11 years ago when I said I DO … this would occur,” she said on Facebook. “This man had a clear and clean record and served our country I truly NEVER imagined this! This WAS NOT my choice! It was HIS! Yet somehow I have folks placing blame for HIS actions on me! Guess what? I didn’t know.
“… I still feel like I’m waking up to the worst of worst nightmare EVERY DAY! … I am not sleeping well and my emotions are all over the place BUT more importantly my kids are and always will be my number one ministry so I gotta pull up my big girl pants and do what’s needed for them,” she wrote.
Cynthia Hull started a gofundme page under the heading, “A life changing event,” that seeks to raise $5,000. By Monday afternoon, the page had been removed.
“We have since this point began learning how to live without him,” she said on the gofundme page, referring to her husband. “It is now just myself, my youngest daughter, and my son in the home. My (ex) husband has been incarcerated and we have no contact order in place.
“All of this said, I am now after almost 11 years a single mother. I am visually impaired with karacatonis and collapsed corneas and he was our sole income. We have applied for many programs and they will hopefully soon be in place.
“With him no longer being in the picture, this has left me with some major home repairs along with everyday bills that have to be payed. This is a drastic change to our family, as he was the one who handled all of this. However, we know the Lord will make a way and so far he has been sending an army. We are SO extremely thankful for everyone who has helped, reached out, and prayed,” she wrote.
Cynthia Hull runs Hidden Mountain Brilliance, a group that organizes field trips and activities for homeschooled children. Its Facebook group, which is private, has 341 members. Numerous group activities have been published in the Cherokee Scout.
According to its Facebook page, of which Cynthia Hull is an administrator, “This Group is for anyone homeschooling in Murphy, Andrews, Hayesville NC, Blairsville, Blue Ridge, Hiawassee or Young Harris GA, Ducktown or Copperhill TN or surrounding areas that are schooling through their own home and would like to meet other parents/kids in area going with them in holiday school parties, playdates and field trips for the most part free of charge.”
Hidden Mountain Brilliance has existed at least since 2007. Cynthia Hill’s gofundme page can be reached at gofund.me/f26d4897.
