Andrews – The annual Welcome Home Veterans: A Tribute to All Who Serve event will recognize all Americans who have served in the armed forces from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Western Carolina Regional Airport, 5840 Airport Road.

All veterans will receive a food voucher and free raffle ticket. Food trucks on hand will include The Ark, DragonAss Barbeque, Frankie’s Dog House, HoneyBug Barbeque and Papa Kash’s.
Events will include featured speaker Warren Dupree of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, along with patriotic medleys from both the Andrews and Murphy elementary school choirs. Bert Zimmerman of SNAFU Stage & Lighting will provide a patriotic playlist during the event.
Also on hand for the event will be a Veterans Stand Down, with more than 40 vendors offering services, including armed forces recruiters, tri-state veterans organizations and the PTSD Bus from Asheville, according to Danna Pash of the Cherokee County Veterans Service Office.
There will be a number of airplanes and helicopters on display. Helicopter rides will be offered by Blue Ridge Helicopter Tours for $50 per person.
The event is primarily sponsored by American Legion Post 532, Ivie Funeral Home and Titan Aviation Fuels.
