Author William Clark held his 10th annual book signing at Living Waters Bookstore for his two-volume collection of short stories Saturday. The retired pastor is well known in Chicken Soup for the Soul volumes
Murphy – Chicken Soup for the Soul and Christian author William Clark held his 10th annual book-signing event at Living Waters Bookstore from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The signing was celebrating the release of his two-volume short story collection put together in one book titled A Walk on the Sunny Side and More. Clark’s new book features a patriotic story, “At Valley Forge in the Winter of 1777-78,” that starts and ends at Waffle King on U.S. 64 West.
This story is inspired by a real-life experience Clark had while waiting for a friend for lunch at the busy Waffle King. A man came in wanting a sandwich, and a waitress asked if it was OK for the man to sit with Clark. While the man waited for his food, Clark learned he was a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the short story is what the man told him during that random meeting.

Clark is a retired pastor who has been publishing his works for 10 years but has enjoyed writing since he was 16 years old. He’s always been strong in his faith, but said age 7 is when God spoke to him, and that has always pushed him to follow the word of God and help others. For 10 years, Clark has been involved with the country’s largest and oldest Pacific Garden Mission.
The goal of Pacific Garden Mission is to minister to homeless men, women and children with the life-changing message of the gospel. They have shelters to provide a haven and safe space for homeless individuals, provide food and clothing, help with addiction recovery, teach life skills needed to live a productive life, and help support mothers and children.
They aim to offer life answers through faith that can help support individuals through any season of life.
