Murphy – The town will be providing town-owned 96-gallon trash receptacles for all customers. This transition is designed to enhance safety, streamline operations and promote cleanliness throughout our community.
The new bins eliminate the need for manual lifting and handling of loose bags, reducing the risk of injury for both residents and sanitation workers. Standardized carts help our sanitation team work more quickly and effectively, ensuring reliable weekly collection. Secure, lidded bins prevent litter, deter animals and keep streets cleaner.
Trash must be bagged before placing it in the bin. Loose trash will not be collected. Residents are advised to place their bin at the curb or street edge no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before collection and remove it by 11 p.m. on collection day.
Ensure at least 3 feet of clearance around your bin (away from mailboxes, vehicles, poles, etc.) and position the lid facing the street.
Overflowing trash or extra items outside the bin will not be collected. Additional bins can be purchased if needed.
Prohibited Items include hazardous materials (paint, oil, chemicals); construction debris (wood, drywall, bricks); large appliances, furniture, bulk waste; and automotive parts, tires or batteries.
The town also offers additional services.
