Peachtree – Thunderous skies gave way to a beautiful pink-streaked sunset as the procession of Tri-County Community College’s Class of 2022 streamed outside to unite with friends and loved ones following the annual commencement ceremony on May 6 on the main campus.
Dr. Donna Tipton Rogers, president of Tri-County Community College, began the evening by congratulating the graduates on reaching this point in their educational career.
“Tonight is about you and your accomplishments,” said Tipton-Rogers, gesturing to the room, overflowing with guests and loved ones. “No matter whether you continue your educational journey or join the workforce, I want you to know that Tri-County Community College will always be here for you.”
The 2022 event was one of the largest and most-attended commencements ever held at the college.
In an emotional moment during the ceremony, Tipton-Rogers paused the procession of students across the stage to recognize Ellen Woods, a graduate from Graham County. Woods began her journey at Tri-County Community College 28 years ago. She took a moment to encourage her fellow classmates to keep pushing through difficult challenges.
“Ellen has finished her degree, and now she’s going to be a teacher,” Tipton-Rogers proudly told the assembled crowd in the Enloe Building during the ceremony.
The 2022 commencement events at Tri-County Community College also included an intimate Medical Assisting pinning ceremony on May 3, a personal and touching high school equivalency graduation on May 7, and the Region A Nursing Consortium pinning ceremony on May 11.
“It has been a wonderful week at the college.” Tipton-Rogers said. “This is always a busy time filled with hard work, but after the last few years, it was amazing to see the smiling faces of our students and their families as we celebrated their accomplishments.”
