Martins Creek – Jyson Swartz, 44, was found dead from a gunshot wound at a Hutchens Road home on Jan. 22, according to Atlanta police Detective Savannah Berry.
Nearly two weeks later, on Feb. 1, Swartz’s younger sister – Suzzanne Swartz Hogsed, 33 – was arrested and charged with the crime at her home on Postell Road.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hogsed on a fugitive from justice warrant days after her car had been seized by local investigators. Chief Deputy Joe Wood confirmed that a detective and a crime scene technician from the Atlanta Police Department examined the car and found evidence that was sent to the crime lab.
Wood said Hogsed was called to the office under a ruse to pick up her car. When she arrived, they informed her that she was under arrest and charged with murder.
“She was nervous but showed no emotion,” Wood said. “She didn’t ask what she was being charged with until we walked her to the jail and she asked, ‘What for?’ ”
Hogsed has agreed to extradition back to Atlanta and will be housed at the Cherokee County Detention Center in Murphy until she is transported by the Atlanta Police Department under the supervision of Lead Detective Clifford Payne.
According to her Facebook page, Hogsed works as a direct care aide at Easyudo Services. Hogsed posted a tribute to her brother, saying, “I love you bro, I miss you and your corny jokes.”
