Peachtree – Four Square Community action and partners encourage you to Dream It; Plan It; Own It: Let us help you with the action of turning your home-buying dreams into concrete plans with timelines, savings goals and steps toward improving your financial position.
Everyone is invited to a free dinner and information-sharing event from 5-7 p.m. Monday at 315 Family Church Road.
Dr. Sue Lynn Ledford, executive director of Four Square, will present homeownership as a segment of the continuum of housing. Four Square’s study captures the range of the most challenging housing needs in our region.
Ledford will offer insight designed to awaken some in our community to step forward and begin a plan for home ownership that connects individuals and families to training from professional services – such as Realtors, mortgage brokers and insurance agents – and guides interested individuals and families toward budgeting for home ownership. In addition, the group will help you seek funding support for new or refurbished homes.
Ledford said some people have been dreaming about owning a home for years. Others might consider attending because they’re wondering if home ownership is even possible.
Maybe you’ve scrolled through listings online, admiring houses with beautiful views, imagining yourself on that porch with cup of coffee as you enjoy the sunrise. And maybe, in the next moment, you told yourself, “That’s not for me. I could never afford that. ‘People like me’ don’t get homes like that.”
Monday’s seminar is designed to write a different ending to your story.
Home ownership isn’t reserved for the wealthy
or the privileged. It’s not something that “other people” get to experience. The path to owning your own home – whether it’s a cozy cabin, a property downtown, or a family home with room to grow – is more accessible than you might believe.
A team of home-buying experts will be on hand:
- Dr. Jeana Conley with Crossnore Communities for Children and Educate 4 Success has designed a workbook to help attendees embrace the home-buying journey as a learning process.
- Taylor Gremli from The Gremli Group
- Gina Sanders from Mortgage Financial Group.
- Steven Aft from Steven Aft State Farm Insurance will help lay out the steps to assure your home is secured, protected and cared for over the years of ownership.
Yes, there is a lot to learn. There are forms and numbers and decisions. But you’re invited to see this journey not as intimidating, but as an exciting adventure in learning that ends with you holding keys to your own home.
No matter your income level, credit history or background, homeownership can be in your future. Knowledge is power. The more you learn and prepare, the more confident you’ll feel making decisions.
You’re not alone. Everyone in the group is on a similar journey, and the experts presenting this seminar are committed to helping you succeed.
The goal is to make the first homebuying seminar a catalyst for ongoing seminars and accessible follow-up support throughout Cherokee, Clay and Graham counties. There is room at the table for more professionals.
To impact a region and turn a housing crisis around is a major undertaking.
The path forward rests in the commitment and strength of public and private sectors coming together to drive impactful housing solutions.
