Murphy – The Rotary Club of Murphy is excited to announce the upcoming Community Scholastic Book Fair, set to take place from Friday, Sept. 6, through Thursday, Sept. 12, at The Ballroom, directly across from Downtown Pizza.
This event promises a week of fun, community spirit and the joy of reading for all ages.
Book fair hours:
- Friday: 10 a.m to 7 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: 1-4 p.m.
- Monday through Thursday, Sept. 9-12: 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Event highlights:
- Books and Bakes – Opening Night Kickoff.
The festivities will begin on Friday night with “Books and Bakes,” a special sidewalk bake sale featuring homemade treats, with all proceeds supporting the Rotary Reads program. This program provides books and story time readers from Rotary members to local elementary classrooms on a regular basis, fostering a love of reading among young students.
- Support Your Classroom and Win.
Throughout the week, students are encouraged to visit the Book Fair and participate in classroom competitions. The homeroom teacher with the most student visitors will win a $100 Amazon Gift Card for classroom use. Be sure to let Book Fair volunteers know your homeroom teacher’s name when you arrive to ensure your visit counts!
- Special guests, surprises.
Visitors can look forward to seeing some beloved literary characters who may make special appearances for photo opportunities! The Book Fair promises to be a memorable experience for all who attend, combining the excitement of discovering new books with engaging community activities.
- Proceeds for a cause.
All proceeds from the Book Fair will go directly to support the Rotary Reads program, making a lasting impact on local students by providing them with valuable literacy resources.
