A rollover accident on U.S. 64 West in Ranger occurred in the eastbound lane at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday.
Cherokee County Emergency Medical Services, N.C. Highway Patrol and Ranger Fire Department responded to the scene.
The only occupant of the vehicle was the driver, and there was no airbag deployment.
While the skies were overcast and the roadway was wet, it was not raining. Only one lane was closed, with no traffic delays.
The driver, who has not been charged, said, “I hydroplaned, then went off the road onto the grass then shot straight across the road over there.”
The driver, who appeared shaken with minor injuries, was not taken to the hospital.
A witness to the accident said, “I saw the car go that way, then come straight across and go nose-up that way.”
