Murphy – The Parson’s Pub has always been a lively, community-centered establishment, but it extended its reach on the night of June 22 by hosting a special flash mob wedding.
The groom, Colby Beck, is no stranger to the pub, as he helped run the place when his father, Al Beck, owned it once upon a time. Legend says the younger Beck met his bride, Jamie Glandt, within its festive walls, so it made sense to their adventurous brains to hold the wedding ceremony in a place that felt like home.
Word of the wedding travelled organically through townsfolk, and by the magic hour of 6 p.m., Parson’s Pub was packed full both of intentional and unintentional guests.
Brent Adams and Phil Lee fell among the unintentional guests. When they realized they were in the middle of a loosely organized event, they moved to outdoor seating.
“You can call us the creepers outside,” Adams said with a laugh.
Such is the way in small towns that when they heard Beck’s name, they realized they both knew him. Beck and Glandt snuck inside from the back, easily merging within the crowd to hugs, cheers and general merriment.
