Murphy – Local businesses Narrative Bookstore and Downtown Pizza Co. have partnered to create a new reading program called Pages & Pizza.
There is a challenge available for children and for adults. If you read one of the books in your age category, you receive a voucher for a free buffet and drink at Downtown Pizza. If you read all eight of the books in your category, you’ll get five vouchers for a free buffet and drink for the whole family.
The eight books in the kids category include The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, Mercy Watson to the Rescue by Kate DiCamillo, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Matilda by Roald Dahl, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, Wings of Fire by Tui T. Sutherland and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.
The eight books in the adult category include Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Creation Lake by Rachel Kushner, James by Percival Everett, Intermezzo by Sally Rooney, Hail Mary by Andy Weir, Babel by R.F. Kuang, 1984 by George Orwell and The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V. E. Schwab.
The challenge continues now through the end of August. Narrative Bookstore and Downtown Pizza hope to make this a recurring summer reading challenge. To verify that you’ve read the book(s) and collect your voucher, stop by Narrative Bookstore and talk with owner Brooke Adams about the book you read.
