Murphy – A 34-year-old local man was arrested following an investigation into indecent liberties with a child.
Joshua James Dean was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of the felony offense. He was released the same day after posting $15,000 bond.

Sheriff’s detectives Dylan Vallee and Nicholas Queen arrested Dean after receiving a report on July 8 about possible inappropriate contact
between Dean and a juvenile. After a thorough review of the evidence and interviews, detectives obtained a warrant for Dean’s arrest.
When he was located n Friday, Dean was served with a warrant for three counts of indecent liberties with a child, a Class F felony offense.
Dean was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where he was taken before a magistrate and bond was set. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 14.
Due to the sensitive nature of
the charges and involvement of a
minor, no additional details are being released at this time, according to the sheriff’s office.
