Andrews – Sept. 9 was bittersweet for visitors and vendors alike who came out to the final Food Truck Fridays event of the 2022 season.
Food Truck Fridays once again offered folks plenty to do. Vendors provided people with opportunities to shop for handcrafted items made locally. Just some of the wares included trinket boxes, jewelry, hats, clothing and garden items, as well as CBD products and pet attire.
Popular local band The High Strangeness was playing, as folks grabbed blankets and chairs to enjoy the musical talent.
There were about seven different food trucks offering eats like Caribbean, BBQ and Italian food as well as seafood. The Cherokee County Food Bank was out serving up hot dogs and cold drinks, which was a project of the Andrews Lions Club.
Plenty of desserts were on site, too, like snow cones from Snowie Shaved Ice and varies goodies from Sunny Sweets Poppin Treats.
It was a pet-friendly outing as well, and even a pig was there checking things out while enjoying a meal or two. She must have liked it because she was squealing.
Andrews Chamber of Commerce Director Nola Cooper said of the last one for this season, “On the one hand I’m sad it’s my last event, but on the other hand it’s almost a relief as I help others with their events.”
She added, “I’m really happy with the season, it’s been wonderful. We’ve had great vendors, great food trucks and great music.”
About 1,000 people have come out to the Food Truck Fridays events, helping make it a success for everyone.
Trina Becker was out
with her husband Scott Powers. They brought their jewelry, tins and handmade wood clocks to sell and she said about the last one for the year, “It’s been a great season, and I can’t wait for the next one. I sold a lot of earrings.”
Two happy “strollers” through the event were Glenna and her husband, Bill. Glenna said, “I wish it would have lasted as long as Murphy’s gonna have theirs. I really enjoy coming out and meeting great people. It’s just a friendly little town.”
Bill smiled and added, “It’s great, we love coming out here and spending time together. We get to meet friends we don’t see all the time.”
Food Truck Fridays are held on the second week of each month from May through September on First Street in downtown Andrews. Mark your calendars and come out next season. For details, call the Andrews chamber at 321-3584.
