Peachtree – Thanks to K-9 Deputy Ellie, trafficking amounts of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were discovered at a checkpoint.
At 10:16 p.m. Sept. 28, Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies with the Patrol Division conducted a checking station at Goldie Garrett Road and N.C. 141. A vehicle with Jonathan Arthur McDonald and Keshia Nichole Frady came through the checkpoint with an expired registration plate, according to a release.
A K-9 handler on the scene conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle utilizing K-9 Deputy Ellie, who gave a positive alert on
the vehicle. Deputies detained McDonald and Frady and conducted a search, recovering trafficking amounts of methamphetamine and numerous drug paraphernalia artifacts.
McDonald and Frady were charged with the following offenses:
- Trafficking in methamphetamine by transport;
- Trafficking in methamphetamine by possession;
- Possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule II controlled substance.
Both individuals were given $50,000 secured bonds by a magistrate.
