Murphy – The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Forks & Corks: Local Savor fundraiser was held June 6 at the historic Hackney Warehouse.
The event, begun in 2015 with only one year missed due to COVID-19, provides an opportunity for the chamber to showcase the varying breweries, restaurants and wineries serving Cherokee County. With almost 200 attendees, it was deemed a success by Executive Director Victoria Ivie.
“The income from Forks & Corks goes to help cover costs of the event as well as supplements to other revenue streams, such as membership dues and sponsorships, ensuring financial stability and community engagement,” Ivie said.
A total of 10 vendors offered craft beer and wine from Buck Bald Brewing, Cherokee Cellars and FernCrest Winery, to
steak skewers from Legends Steakhouse, to craft cocktails lamb empanadas from
The Crown Brasstown, to smoked seafood dip from Mike’s Seafood. Attendees were treated to a feast of the senses for every palette.
Music was provided by Denise Moore’s jazz stylings, while a cigar bar was offered by Carmen Lance of Ameriprise Financial. The crowds seemed to enjoy the overall atmosphere.
Attendees were offered one free raffle ticket by having their “Fare Passport” hole-punched by each business they sampled. More than 20 local businesses also offered gift baskets and certificates, much to the delight of the chamber and crowds.
