Brayden Shiflett
Murphy – A benefit motorcycle ride for Brayden Shiflett will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Big Lots, 1450 Andrews Road. Riders will depart the parking lot at noon.
Brayden was born with a heart condition known as Tetralogy of Fallot, which affects his pulmonary arteries, and he has already undergone open heart surgery. His valve doesn’t close properly, and he has severe blood regurgitation.
Brayden’s heart is enlarged. The left side of his heart is only at 65% of blood outflow.
Brayden suffers with many different health complications. He has also had surgery to place rods in his spine due to severe congenital scoliosis and will endure the lengthening process every three months. And after undergoing a lot of medical testing, a lung scan showed spots consistent with lung disease.
The Martins Creek Elementary School student has a long, painful road to recovery ahead of him.
Anyone who would like to participate in the motorcycle ride may show up in the parking lot at 11 a.m. The ride includes all vehicles – including street-legal ATVs, classic and antique automobiles.
The ride is $20 per vehicle, or whatever you are able to donate. The group will be riding the Hanging Dog Loop.
All money raised with help the family with medical expenses. In addition, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help raise money for the family’s overwhelming medical expenses.
