Marble – A Georgia man was hospitalized after he was thrown from his motorcycle when a vehicle pulled in front of him around lunchtime Feb. 26.
N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Rocky Neal said Adam Pendergrass, 39, of Marble, would be cited for failure to yield. Pendergrass was driving an SUV and pulling out of the parking lot at Farmhouse Diner off N.C. 141 around 11:30 a.m. Feb. 26.
According to witness Billy Scrantom of Cherokee County, it appears the driver of the SUV didn’t see the oncoming motorcycle, which was driven by Ronald McClenny, 55, of Lawrenceville, Ga. The northbound motorcycle crashed into the SUV as it was crossing the road to head south on N.C. 141.
Scrantom said the motorcyclist was thrown 60 feet and unconscious from the collision. He and a nurse tended to the wounded motorcyclist until emergency responders arrived.
McClenny was hospitalized and remained hospitalized as of Monday, Neal said.
