Andrews – There are only a few days left until the biggest Christmas on Main Street yet, making this an event you won’t want to miss.
The fun will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, with holiday festivities for the entire family. Christmas on Main will have three stages of live entertainment throughout the day, including Betty Vaughn & Friends, Rock Holler and the Steve Jordan Band.
There will also be various church choirs, the Foster Family and the Smokey Mountain Gospel Singers as well as the
EKG Men’s Quartet. There will also be a Christmas mix of music playing throughout the day courtesy of Alex Haughton’s S’Cool Bus.
Victorian Carolers are a favorite and will appear three times during the day from noon-5 p.m. One performance will be a flash mob at Locust and Main streets around noon.
Don’t miss the Choo-Choo Train made out of hay. You’ll also have a chance to get a photo taken with Santa Claus.
There will be 195 vendor booths which is the largest number to date, beating last year’s record of 120. Check out arts and crafts, food trucks, an entire kids and young entrepreneurs area, bake sales, raffles, a mini-vintage car show and much more.
The event wraps up with the town’s Christmas tree dedication and lighting at 5 p.m.
Christmas on Main started nine years ago, after a few business owners began reminiscing about the Christmas spirit of downtown Andrews in the 1970s, when businesses remained open for a week until 9 p.m. for working folks.
They desired to re-create the festive atmosphere of Christmas lights, decorations and community camaraderie. Christmas on Main Street recaptures the nostalgic spirit of the holiday season by bringing businesses and community together through a shared source of pride.
Everyone is invited out to be a part of this special time of the year with all its festivities. There’s so much going on that folks are encouraged to come and hang out for the entire day.
