Murphy – Dueling chainsaw artists will again set up on the downtown square in front of the Murphy Art Center during the entire First Friday weekend, including all day Saturday.
Stop by and watch the artists revving up their chainsaws to carve all sorts of woodland creatures and beautiful artworks out of hunks of wood and tree stumps. All items will be available for purchase directly from the artists, from noon-8 p.m. Friday afternoon and 10 a.m.. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
An exciting Art Walk is promised from 5-8 p.m. Friday. The pocket parks will be packed with vendors and carvers, dozens of arts and craft vendors lining the sidewalks, as well as with the newly installed art with the outdoor MAX Project.
Music at The MAC this month features the George&Andy Band performing on the square, with Marci & Jim Wilcox and friends playing inside the center. There’ll be lots of live music in several venues throughout downtown, with places staying open late.
A special arts and crafts exhibit of “Wildlife: Creatures Big and Small” is on display in the Special Events Gallery at The MAC. The show features bears, foxes and elk to tiny woodland creatures, including butterflies, birds, and insects.
Remember to bring children into the MAC classroom to create a fun and crafty free Make & Take project during the first two hours of Art Walk. For adult, the Valley River Arts Guild will be offering snacks and complimentary wine tasting.
