Mandy Jane Fortner, 34, and Jennifer Lynn McCullough, 43, live a half-mile from each other off of N.C. 141 in Marble. The two were traveling together when they were stopped by police, with McCullough the driver.
Police said McCullough was known to be sought on warrants when they observed her at the Ingles supermarket on Main Street. Police stopped the car near Andrews Town Hall and detained the two while they searched the vehicle.
During the search, police allegedly found Fortner was in possession of methamphetamine.
“She had a little over 9 grams on her person,” Andrews Police Chief Caleb Stiles said.
The Andrews Police Department is fully staffed after several years of being shorthanded. Town officers are aggressively going after active warrants, traffic violations and other cases, Stiles has said in previous interviews.
