Andrews – The Andrews Board of Aldermen is scheduled to hold public hearings on three resolutions at 6 p.m. Thursday July 10, in the Facilities Building, 85 Fourth St.
The ordinances are for:
- Recreational vehicle parks.
- Abandoned structures.
- Minimum housing.
The RV Park Ordinance would entail “the establishment of RV parks within the corporate limits of the Town of Andrews, including setting the procedure for securing zoning approval and setting requirements and specifications for the RV parks.”
The Abandoned Structure Ordinance would identify “hazards of abandoned structures outlining procedural requirements for addressing these hazards with owners, requiring owners to take corrective action, allowing the Town of Andrews to take corrective action imposed as a lien and providing mechanisms for enforcement.”
The Minimum Housing Ordinance would include, per the board’s requirements, “standards to protect the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the town” with regard to “minimum standards of fitness for the initial and continued occupancy of buildings used for human habitation with the corporate limits of the town of Andrews.”
Also approved was a flood plain ordinance, which is mandatory in North Carolina with no need for public hearing or comment. Shelved for another time was the resolution to consider a subdivision ordinance.
