Peachtree – The coronavirus wasn’t going to stop local resident Leon Moss from celebrating a milestone birthday last week.

Moss turned 95 years old on July 29. Although they could not be with him in person to celebrate, his family worked with staff at Murphy Rehabilitation & Nursing to plan a COVID-style party for him.

Pam Barmore, the dietary department manager, made a chocolate cake for him. Residents maintained at least 6 feet of distance during the celebration.

“Leon always gives staff a smile, and what a treasure to put a smile on his face,” said Emily Fulford, activities assistant.

A native of the community, Moss worked with the Forest Service. Fulford said he is very social, and spends a lot of time talking on the phone with family, neighbors and friends.

“He loves his kids, and family is very important to him,” Fulford said.

She added that Moss loves the Lord very much, and shares the importance of serving God.
