Murphy – A local man accused of child rape and distribution of child pornography was rearrested last week on new charges, two days after posting bond.

Micaiah Noel Naylor, 33, had been locked up since Aug. 27 on six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after allegedly sharing child pornography images via Snapchat in December and June.

A judge initially set a $100,000 secured bond following Naylor’s arrest, but that amount was reduced to $20,000 with conditions stipulating that he could not access the internet, could not leave the state, could not have contact with children and could not visit any parks, schools or other place where children would gather.

Naylor posted 10 percent of the reduced bond on Sept. 29, a few hours after the Cherokee Scout went to press with a front-page report outlining accusations of child rape contained in recently unsealed federal court documents. On Oct. 1, local authorities rearrested Naylor in two separate incidents that allegedly happened in 2017.

The new arrest warrants accuse Naylor of forcibly raping two separate children, both of whom were under age 13 at the time of the alleged offense. Naylor is charged with two counts of statutory rape and two counts of forced sex offense, both first-degree felony offenses. A judge set a secured bond for a total of $1 million.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials continue to unravel accusations of child rape, production of child pornography and attempted murder outlined in federal court documents previously reported in the Scout.

Naylor is represented by local attorney Leo Phillips, who declined to comment on this report. Naylor is scheduled to be in court for a probable cause hearing on Oct. 15.
