Larry Keith “Thunder Wolf” Limon
Murphy – A local military veteran and community leader has been accused of possessing and distributing child pornography.
Larry Keith “Thunder Wolf” Limon, 51, was indicted by a federal grand jury, which charged him with five counts of distributing and/or possessing child pornography. Limon, who retired from the military after serving 21 years in the U.S. Navy, was commander of local American Legion Post 96 until stepping down earlier this year.
Court documents obtained by the Cherokee Scout allege that Limon distributed child pornography twice in June 2017 and once in January 2019. He’s also accused of receiving child pornography from June 2017 through March 2019. The fifth count of the indictment accuses Limon of possessing and accessing child pornography that involved “a prepubescent minor and a minor who had not attained 12 years of age” on March 12, 2019.
According to the website Leagle.com, which publishes court opinions and decisions in the United States, federal authorities raided Limon’s home in March 2019. During the raid, officials seized several digital devices that allegedly contained images of child pornography.
Limon allegedly admitted to law enforcement officials that he used a cell phone to receive images of child pornography. He is also accused of using the website Tumblr.com to upload six or seven images containing child pornography to the internet.
Limon was indicted by a grand jury on June 2 of this year. He was arrested by federal authorities on June 15.
A judge ruled that two laptops, two cell phones and a tablet owned by Limon could be permanently forfeited to the federal government pursuant to civil forfeiture laws.
Limon has been released from federal custody with orders to wear an electronic monitoring device and abide by a curfew as the case moves through the court system.
Court documents show that Limon underwent back surgery on Aug. 5 and was hospitalized for four days before being released. He is scheduled to have two rounds of physical therapy and may need additional surgeries in the future.
A judge granted a continuance of the case on Sept. 17 in order for Limon to handle the medical issues related to his back. Limon is being represented by local attorney Rich Cassidy, who declined to comment on the case for this report.
