Peachtree – The community has a designated place to pray for local hospital workers.
Mark Kimball, CEO of Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital, is a member of Murphy First United Methodist Church. He asked his pastor, the Rev. Wil Posey, if the faith community could find a way to show support for the hospital staff.
“We all know their jobs have become increasingly difficult, and things are tough on patients and families,” Posey said. “Prayer is a way we can draw on, and share the strength and hope of God.”
On behalf of the local ministerial association, Posey went into action, gathered two signs the church recently acquired to designate parking for young families, then added new signage that read, “Park and Pray for hospital staff and patients” on one side and, “We are praying for you! ‘The Lord is your keeper …’ (Psalm 121:5)” on the other.
The signs were placed in front of spots near the entrance April 1. Those who wish to stop by and pray may park in any spot near the signs.
“It’s near the entrance, visible to staff and patients, so they know folks are praying for them, but not in the way,” Posey said. “This was on Mark’s heart, and he knew right where they could go.”
Posey said those who wish to offer their support in prayer could stop by on their way to the store or work.
