Peachtree – Family Resources of Cherokee County – a non-profit organization providing services to families in Cherokee, Clay and Graham counties – has been operating on a limited basis during the COVID-19 shutdown.
Under the guidance of Interim Director Rachael Hall and a new board of directors, Family Resources has continued to provide services through virtual and telephone conferences and delivery of needed items to families while observing all required distancing, according to a release.
With unemployment being at an all-time high, many families in the community needing assistance may be unaware of the services provided by Family Resources. The agency received a small grant during this time of economic hardship to be used for assistance with food, clothing, diapers, formula, prescriptions and overdue utility bills, which is available to families, single parents and the elderly.
Family Resources also received a generous donation of items for babies and toddlers from the Murphy Police Department consisting of new car seats, strollers, Pack N Plays and a variety of bouncy seats. They can be picked up in the office at 5527 U.S. 64 E. Alternate – new offices on the second floor – or delivered to your home.
Family Resources is holding a drive-through donation event outside the office this Friday as well as on May 22. Donations of diapers, wipes, toiletries, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food and new toys will be appreciated, and monetary donations of any amount will be gratefully accepted.
Parenting classes and supervised visitations will begin soon. Contact Family Resources at 828-837-3460 to request an application for assistance, schedule an appointment or for future class dates.
