Police are searching for Jeremy Lee Golden, who is accused of starting four fires last week
Wolf Creek – Authorities are searching for a man accused of serial arson.
Jeremy Lee Golden is accused of threatening to burn down a relative’s house along with the west side of the county, according to law enforcement officials, who believe he is responsible for four fires that happened a day after the threat.
Firefighters were dispatched to 1560 Johnsonville Road around 7 p.m. June 3 and found an abandoned home fully engulfed in flames. While battling that blaze, firefighters received word about a second fire at 45 Allen Circle.
A third fire was reported at 20229 U.S. 64 West a short time later. Then, a fourth blaze ignited across the state line in Fannin County, Ga., while crews were still extinguishing the first three.
Officials say all four fires happened within 45 minutes, with 12-15 minutes between blazes. Call 837-2521 if you have any information related to the fires.
Authorities say Golden contacted the aforementioned relative after the four fires and admitted to being the culprit. He allegedly warned the relative that he was saving their house for last.
All four properties were abandoned at the time of the fires, and no injuries were reported. The State Bureau of Investigation and other area agencies are involved in the case.
“We’re trying to catch him before he gets brave and does it again,” Cherokee County sheriff’s Lt. Tiffany Holland said. “We thought we knew where he might have been on Saturday. We did a search warrant, but he wasn’t there.”
