Murphy – A Cherokee County grand jury issued 10 new separate indictments charging a local man with a total of 18 criminal counts related to child rape and pornography.

Micaiah Naylor, 33, who remains in custody on a secured bond totaling $1 million, is accused of numerous child exploitation offenses dating back at least three years.

“There are more leads that need to be followed up on,” Cherokee County sheriff’s Detective Roger Williams said.

Naylor is charged with raping a 9-year-old girl and filming the sex act in 2017. He is also accused of filming the exploitation of a 9-year-old boy between January 2017 and earlier this year prior to his Aug. 27 arrest.

Court documents also allege Naylor raped a 12-year-old girl in 2017 and also produced a pornographic video with a different 9-year-old boy between December 2018 and January this year.

The grand jury also issued indictments charging Naylor with distributing child pornography that exploited four unknown minors: a female younger than age 15; a female younger than age 10; and two males both younger than age 10.

The grand jury issued the indictments on Oct. 12. Naylor is scheduled to appear in court Monday, Dec. 14.
