Murphy – As fall begins to set in, the October Art Walk typically brings many visitors to downtown. However, because of COVID-19, Tim Ford, who organizes the event for the Valley River Arts Guild, expects a smaller turnout than last year for Friday night’s event.
“For the most part, I do believe we will have a great turnout of visitors during the October Art Walk,” Ford said. “I anticipate a steady influx of visitors throughout the evening.”
Participating artists were asked to focus on a fall theme for the event. Ford said 25 artists are expected to fill the downtown sidewalks with art for sale.
Potter Mike Lalone will be demonstrating his pottery outside the Murphy Art Center. Jim and Marcie Wilcox will be performing classic country music in the square. Americana singer/songwriter Troy Underwood will be performing at The Daily Grind & Wine.
The Art Walk coincides with the final night of the MAC’s Silent Auction. Hundreds of items are available, including local dining and shop gift certificates, original works of art, and antiques and vintage collectibles. Winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m.
Across the street, The Curiosity Shop Bookstore will have hourly drawings for three used books or $10 off the purchase of a new book.
The Murphy Art Walk is typically held from 5-8 p.m. on the first Friday of each month from May through December.
