    Roger Dale Thomasson, 77, of Turtletown, Tenn., passed away on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, at his home.
    Roger was born Jan. 14, 1945, in Murphy to the late William Hill Thomasson and Hattie Evelyn Leatherwood Thomasson.
    He worked as a forester for Hiwassee Land Company before spending the last 25 years as a carpenter building homes.
    He served his community in several capacities that included the Copper Basin Utilities Board, Tri-State EMC and the Grand Jury Foreman for Polk County.
    Also with a servant’s heart, he was a Past Worshipful Master of Ducktown Lodge No. 241F&AM, Alhambra Shrine Temple in Chattanooga, Tenn., and a charter member of Friendship Chapter No. 499 OES.
    Roger was also an avid outdoorsman, especially hunting and fishing.
    Roger is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Deanie Thomasson of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Carol Thomasson of Camp Creek, Tenn.; daughter, Missy Thomasson of Copperhill, Tenn.; grandchildren, Haleigh (Aaron Powell) Thomasson, Cody Thomasson, Zackary Thomasson, Brooke Worthey, Zackery Waters and Hannah (Tyler) Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Aubri Thomasson, Ava Powell, Willow Worthey, Rylan Ramsey, Kerstin Wooten, and Tyler Kimsey; brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Theresa Thomasson of Peachtree; sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Sam Graves of Robbinsville; and many nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends.
    Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, from the chapel of Akins-Cobb with the Revs. Mark Reid and Guinn Green officiating. Music was provided by Carol Thomasson, Janice Reid and Colby Ledford. Interment followed in Farner Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of Ducktown Lodge No. 241 F&AM.
    The family received friends at the funeral home from noon-2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, prior to the service.
