Drivers in Cherokee County should be aware of a temporary road closure that started on Tuesday.
The intersection of Martins Creek Road, Lance Road, and U.S. 19/129 will be closed to through traffic while crews build a new road alignment and install storm drainage systems. The closure is expected to remain in place until around Monday, Aug. 17.
Local traffic will still be able to access the area using detour routes:
• Northbound traffic will be routed from Moccasin Creek Road to Carson Lane, then to Glen Stalcup Road before reconnecting with Martins Creek Road.
• Southbound traffic on Martins Creek Road will use Glen Stalcup Road to Carson Lane, then Moccasin Creek Road back to U.S. 19/129.
• Drivers on Lance Road will need to use the northern intersection of Lance Road and U.S. 19/129 during the closure.
Barricades and detour signs will be posted throughout the area to help direct traffic.
Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and follow posted speed limits while traveling through the construction zone.
