MURPHY – Murphy was set to welcome American Idol contestant Braden Rumfelt home for a free concert on Thursday, but the weather had other ideas.
Due to the threat of severe weather, the Rumfelt concert scheduled for Thursday has been postponed.
The forecast is calling for 75% chance of rain, with up to half an inch possible and thunderstorms also possible. Wit the large number of people expected to attend, along with the many logistics and schedules involved, the decision was made early rather than waiting until the last minute.
A new date for the concert is now being worked on and will be announced very soon.
Sponsored by Downtown Murphy and Visit Cherokee County, the concert will feature Rumfelt and his band to celebrate his recent accomplishment in reaching the Top Five contestants on Season 24 of the popular talent show.
The show is also a part of the new Murphy Mountain Music Summer Concert Series sponsored by the Cherokee County Tourism Development Authority.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the open-air show.
