Welcome Home event at Western Carolina Regional Airport
The annual Welcome Home event at Western Carolina Regional Airport in Andrews from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday offers an array of services from the Cherokee County Veterans Service Office to those who’ve served as well as those on active duty. From free lunch vouchers to the “Stand Down,” folks can receive advice and access to specialized services, like connecting with support organizations offering employment help and advocates to address needs in a relaxed atmosphere.
The event offers veteran-owned businesses a chance to sell their wares, while building community with other veterans in Cherokee County. Sponsored by local businesses and organizations including the American Legion, Ivie Funeral Home and Titan Aviation Fuels, the event celebrates the sacrifice and service of veterans, while offering the community a day of reverence and entertainment.
The event showcases regional classic car groups and static military planes provided by The Liberty Foundation, along with helicopters and thrilling aerial demonstrations, for the public to enjoy. The county’s support of veterans is evident throughout the seven years of Welcome Home.
