With St. Valentine’s special day of love coming up Saturday, this seems like the right time to bring up the well-known fact that Cherokee County has a lot of really good people living here. People who treat others the way they want to be treated. People who take the biblical maximum to “love thy neighbor” to heart.
Honestly, that alone would be reason enough to want to live and work here. Seeing folks celebrate marriages of more than 50 years shows that love can last, too.
We saw that again Friday afternoon, when Andrews Florist brought colorful flowers to Valley View Care & Rehabilitation Center. Thanks to local residents making generous donations, 12 special tabletop flower arrangements and five vases were delivered to staff and patients. (Look for more photos from the special floral event on page 2A.)
Since there was a COVID and flu outbreak at the facility, florist Christy Reeves and assistants Eloise Mason, Bethony Allen and Keyari Allen decorated the cafeteria and recreation room for patients after masking up at the entrance. Meanwhile, the nurses station acquired the vase decorations for the hard-working staff that provides 24-hour service.
These are the kinds of things that make Cherokee County a special place.
