Body

Richard “Rick” Alan Jackson, 68, of Murphy, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at his residence.
He worked as a carpenter for most of his life, developing his skills and talent to the point of master carpenter. He could build anything from a miniature rocking chair to a whole home. Those of us lucky enough to have a piece of his handiwork lying around will always remember, love and appreciate that.
He was a native of Shasta County, Calif., growing up in Cottonwood and Red Bluff. He married young and had three children. Rick relocated a few times from Santa Paula, Calif., to Garland, Texas, to Yachats, Ore., and then back to Shasta County, pursuing carpentry the whole time.
He met someone special and finally settled in the Culberson community of Murphy, North Carolina. This was a very special place to him where he was able to find the Lord, a church where he became an active member, a new lifestyle, a lot of very friendly people, and a few very special friends that also became a second family for him.
He was the son of the late Robert Hardy and Bessie Jewel Chipley Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an older brother, Lynn Jackson.
Surviving are two daughters, Angie and Renee Jackson; a son, Jason Jackson and wife Gen; sisters, Melinda Jackson and Melissa Jackson Chase and husband Bob; brothers, Rob Jackson and wife Becky, Dan Jackson and wife Suzette, and Dave Jackson; a grandson, Logan; granddaughters, Riley, Emma and Milia; and three loyal little Chi-Weiner dogs, Buster, Sassy and Sox.
He will be missed greatly by friends, family, and all of those who were lucky enough to have had an encounter and be charmed by him at some point in their lives.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at Culberson Baptist Church during the evening church service.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Northern California at a later date.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of arrangements.
