Challengers unseat incumbents in Andrews

Andrews – Two incumbents were unseated by challengers in the Nov. 7 Andrews Board of Aldermen election.

Aldermen Michael Sheidy and Jonathan Ellison were unseated by challengers James McLean and Ted Paul, who ran as teammates.

Of the 1,019 registered voters in Andrews, just 186 (18.25 percent) voted.

Andrews’ two polls closed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, with results posted online at 8:12 p.m.

McLean was the top vote getter with 89 votes, or 25.43 percent of the vote. Ted Paul finished second with 68 votes, or 19.43 percent of the vote.

Ellison came in third with 63 votes, or 18 percent of the vote total. Randy Hogsed placed fourth with 59 votes (16.86 percent of the vote total). Jodie Kozma placed fifth with 41 votes (11.71 percent of the vote total). Sheidy placed sixth with 29 votes (8.29 percent of the vote total). There was one write-in vote (the name was not available).
