    Thomas E. Cox, 88, of Andrews, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at his daughter’s residence in Parker, Colo.  
    He was a native of Carver’s Creek community, North Carolina, but had lived in Baltimore, Md., prior to moving to Orlando, Fla., in the late 1950s.
    Tom began his career working for Martin Marietta as a draftsman. He was involved in several NASA missile designs projects. He later worked with Litton Laser while living in Florida.
    Tom attended Luther Rice College and Seminary where he received his Masters of Divinity degree. Tom served the Lord through pastoring at several Baptist churches while living in Florida.
    Tom retired in 1996 and moved to Andrews. He attended Andrews First Baptist Church and was active volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program. Tom loved the Lord and writing; these two passions came together as he authored three Christian books.
    He was the son of the late Harvey Eli and Letha Shearer Cox, and husband of the late Hazel Eunice McDuffie Cox, who died March 29, 2022. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Patti Sue Cox Ali and Kathy Lynn Cox Smith; one sister, Brenda Cox Butler; and one brother, Roger Cox.
    Surviving are a daughter, Jenni Houser and husband Rick of Parker, Colo.; one granddaughter, Tasha Renee Ali and Dennis Wenrich of Longwood, Fla.; a son-in-law, Tosh Ali of Longwood, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Ava Lyanna and Everett Michael Wenrich. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Calvin Bobo officiating. Pallbearers will be Rick Houser, John Kilpatrick, Jesse Bullard, Richard Bullard, Rudy McDuffie and Pat Kelley.
    The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, prior to the service.
