ABOUT NIE

Welcome to the Newspapers in Education Page. The Cherokee Scout is proud to be working with Cherokee County Schools and local leaders in developing the Newspapers in Education program. Teachers, students and parents are invited to visit this page to see what’s happening.

The Newspapers in Education program provides participating classrooms copies of the newspaper to help improve literacy and inform students about their community.

Local businesses and individuals can sponsor a local classroom for an entire school year – it’s like being able to provide a new textbook each week!

Anyone interested in sponsoring a classroom or making a donation to support Newspapers in Education may do so by calling the Cherokee Scout, 828/837-5122 or e-mailing nie@cherokeescout.com.
