    Stephen “Cold Cash” Barton Coleman, 69, of Murphy, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 7, 2021.
    He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. He was a graduate of Haywood Technical College, where he received his associate degree in forestry.
    Steve had worked for several local car dealerships and was a salesman who earned the name “Cold Cash” over his 27-year career.
    Steve had always been a strong proponent for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and had spent the last several years working directly with EBCI on the TERO or Tribal Employment Rights of Office Board.
    Steve had served as a commissioner with the tribal ABC board and was on the board at Tri-County Community College. He had been a chairman and vice chairman of the local GOP and continued to be active.
    Steve was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church. He was a member and current treasurer of Cherokee Masonic Lodge No. 146 and Oasis Shrine and WNC Shrine Club.
    Steve had many interests, which included hunting, fishing, horseback riding, cooking, and trading cars and just about anything else. Steve enjoyed attending church events and was a talented singer.
    He was the son of the late Bailey Barton and Myrtle Louise Cornwell Coleman. He was also preceded by a son, Jacob Cody Coleman.
    Surviving are his loving wife of 20 years, Blanche McBrayer Cook Coleman; daughter, Beth Coleman McDonald and husband Jonathan of Murphy; son Stephen Matthew Coleman of Asheville; three stepdaughters who he loved as his own, Denise Cornett and husband Dell of Cumming, Ga., Stephanie Worley and husband Paul of Murphy, and Jill Hamby and husband Jason of Murphy; three sisters, Anna Shuler and husband Marvin, Kay Amos and Joyce Hogsed and husband Maynard, all of Murphy; brother, Harold Coleman and wife Jean; nine grandchildren, Ashlyn Graves and husband Westley, Bailey Brown, Jacob and Elynor McDonald, Kristen and Preston Cornett, Madison Worley, and Jaylan and Jonah Hamby; and many nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at Grape Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Daniel Stewart and Steve West officiating. Interment will take place in the Grape Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic rites provided by Lodge No. 146. Pallbearers will be Eric Hogsed, Dewayne Hogsed, Keith Johnson, Mark Johnson, Jeremiah Barnard and Isaac Sneed.
    The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home Murphy.
