Sondra (Large) Ball went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, at the age of 82.
Sondra grew up in the Cumberland Mountains of Virginia and graduated from Coeburn High School in 1958. She continued her education and graduated from the Women’s Division of Virginia Tech in 1962.
Using her education and natural talents, Sondra gave of herself freely to help her church, community, family, friends and those less fortunate.
Her purpose in life was to love God and love others. Sondra’s faith in God remained strong throughout her life. During good times and in the midst of trials, she always found peace.
The joy of her life has been her daughter, Angela (Ball) Lira, and son-in-law, Jon, residents of California; son, Keith Ball, resident of Nevada; and her grandchildren, Kyle and Ashley Lira, and James and Grace Ball.
A close bond of love, friendship and respect remained strong with Sondra’s sisters, Elisa Long of Norfolk, Va., and Sammie Garnett of Murphy.
A celebration of life will be held at noon Thursday, Nov. 3, at The Shepherd of the Mountain Church. Interment will follow on Saturday in Temple Hill Cemetery in Castlewood, Va.
