The most wonderful and gentle mother, grandmother, daughter and wife, Sherry Reece Collins, 63, of Warne, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021.
Sherry was the daughter of Max and Mary Reece of Warne.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Gerald R. Collins Jr.; her sons, Josh Long (Kristina) and Cory Long (Kayla), and her four grandsons whom she loved dearly, Austin Long, Collin Long, Jake Long and Max Long. Sherry is also survived by her brothers, Paul Reece (Merle), Perry Reece (Sherry), Philip Reece (Teresa); her sister, Anita Reece Kirkland (Lindy); and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Sherry most loved playing with her grandsons, “living off the land” with them, cooking over an open fire, teaching them to skin and cook their squirrels, swimming with them, swinging in a tree, building tree houses, forts and obstacle courses, playing in the barn and backpacking with the boys. She also loved her flower garden and her French Mastiff, Poco.
Sherry spent an active life rock climbing many of the highest mountains of the lower 48 states, shooting cowboy action matches, cattle drives, motorcycle trips and riding horses.
A private graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Pine Log Baptist Church. The Revs. Aud Brown and Kevin Miller officiated. Burial was in Pinelog Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation which Sherry, as a breast cancer survivor, ardently supported.
