    Sam Duncan Jr., 56, of Murphy, passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2021.
    He was a member of Shepherd of the Mountain, where he played drums in the praise band.
    Sam was a member of the Cherokee Masonic Lodge No. 146 and a Shriner. He founded Duncan Heating & Air 30 years ago, where he was a technician.
    He was preceded in death by his mother, Treacy Nugent Tatham.
    Surviving are his wife, Karen Duncan; his father and stepmom, Sam Duncan Sr. and Martha Duncan; two daughters, Hayley Duncan Blackwell and husband Gryphen, and Kiwi Hancock and husband Micah; two brothers, Jim Duncan and wife Andria, and Michael Duncan; two grandchildren, Mayan and Ella Swint; and two nephews, Hayden and Harrison Duncan.
    Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Shepherd of the Mountain with pastor Chris West officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Larry Shope officiating at the graveside. Pallbearers were Tommy Adams, Josh Cannon, Allen Crisp, Jeremy Stiles, Matthew Allman and Charles Shope. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Carlson, Reggie Bryson, Mike Bryson, Shaun Hampton, Scott Rogers and Matt Hughes.
    The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Shepherd of the Mountain prior to the services.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Gideons, Shriners Children Hospital or Christain Services for the Blind and Hearing Impaired.
    Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
