Helen Marie Cook, 76, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at the Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, Ga., after an extended illness.
She was born May 23, 1946, in Murphy to the late Robert Clon and Ruth Lucille Keenum of Hiwassee Dam.
Survivors include her children, Scott (Ramanda) Hughes of Blairsville, Ga., and Paula (David) Court of Atlanta, Ga. She has three grandchildren who were her greatest joy in life: Trevor Hughes, Kyra Hughes and Claudia Court. Survivors include her sister, Margaret (James) Larry Clonts of Blairsville, Ga; and her brother, Lowell (Melva) Keenum of Lilburn, Ga. She has one niece, Melissa (James) Hawkins; and one nephew, James (Shauna) Keenum.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Preston Cook.
Helen was best known for her friendly, beautiful smile and positive attitude.
Her favorite activities in her later year were numerous holiday parties with her family, working crossword puzzles, eating ice cream, and frequent trips to Walmart with her daughter.
As per Helen’s wishes, no formal services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, please celebrate Helen’s memory in your own ways. Plant a flower in your garden in remembrance of her or hang a bird feeder to attract the cardinals that she loved. She will be with all of us in spirit.
