    Gary Edward Kaste, 79, of Murphy, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021.
    He was born in Minneapolis, Minn., to Ray and Gladys Knutson Kaste.
    Gary was self-employed in the restaurant industry.
    He was a loss of a legend; he was a rhythm guitarist for different bluegrass bands. Gary played with legends such as Art Deems from the Grand Old Opry. Music was Gary’s life and he traveled a lot to play music.
    He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. He was the biggest cheerleader/fan for his family. Gary enjoyed helping others in need. He was very family oriented.
    Gary was a member of the Kiwanis in Florida.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Hurd.
    He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susan James Kaste of Murphy; one daughter, Kellyrae Craven of Murphy; one sister, Sharon Rae Kaste of Florida; two grandchildren, Emilie Sue Craven and Matthew Craven; and one great-grandson, Landon Craven.
    A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at the Armuchee Bluegrass Festival in Armuchee, Ga.
