Doris Jane Becker, 80, of Ranger Road in Murphy, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Becker was born July 29, 1939, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of the late George Horne and Lula May Mendemhal Horne.
Doris was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers. She loved cooking and spending time with family and friends, and living life to the fullest. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Elizabeth Bobo and Rebecca Brunetti; a grandson, Brian Emerson; and a brother, George Horne.
Doris was of the Christian faith.
Surviving Mrs. Becker are her loving husband and best friend of 31 years, Lyman D. Becker of Murphy, two daughters, Amy Morin and Brenda Hebert, both of Murphy; two stepdaughters, Tracey and Barry Emerson of North Fort Myers, Fla., Tonya and Brett Emerson of Cape Coral, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Becker.
Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
